MONROE, La. - Following a
dominating opening half of the summer, incoming ULM pitcher Brent Gay has been selected to represent the West Team in the Southern Collegiate Baseball League
All-Star Game, the league announced Tuesday.
Gay is the third Warhawk pitcher
to be named to an all-star team this summer. Weekend starter Drew Granier was
selected to play in the Valley Baseball League All-Star Game and closer Wil
Browning was selected to play in the Prospect League All-Star Game.
Through the first half of the
season Gay has a staggering 0.68 ERA over 11 appearances for the Tennessee
Tornado. He has factored into the
decision in eight of those 11 appearances posting a perfect 3-0 record to go
along with five saves. The rising junior right-hander has struck out 13 batters
and allowed just one run in 13.1 innings of work while opposing batters are
hitting just .170 against him.
Gay will make his ULM debut in
the 2011 season following two standout campaigns at Hinds Community College. He
was 6-1 with 26 strikeouts over 13 appearances and 43.2 innings last season for
the Eagles.
