MONROE,
La. -- ULM head coach Keith Richard announced on Wednesday
the signing of four student-athletes on the first day of the early signing
period. Joining the Warhawks next season will be junior college big men Tylor Ongwae (Eldoret, Kenya), Marvin Williams (Memphis, Tenn.) and Demondre Harvey (Minden, La.), as well
as prep school point guard Nick Coppola
(Richmond, Va.).
"This recruiting class is another
step in our rebuilding process," Richard said. "We feel that all four of these
young men bring qualities that will help improve our team next season."
Ongwae, a 6-7 small forward,
currently plays at Ranger Junior College in Texas, where he is averaging 18.5
points and eight rebounds per game this season. He is also shooting 51 percent
from the field. Ongwae will have two years of eligibility remaining when he
joins the Warhawks next season.
Williams, a 6-8 center, is in his
first season at Northwest Florida Junior College, currently the No. 2 team in the
country. Williams is averaging nine points and six rebounds this season and is
shooting 69 percent from the field. Williams will have two years to play for
the Warhawks.
Harvey, a 6-7 power forward, is at
Pearl River Junior College in Mississippi after starring at Minden High School.
Harvey is averaging 8.7 points, eight rebounds and is shooting 61 percent from
the field this season at Pearl River. He will have three years of eligibility
remaining at ULM.
Coppola, a 6-0 point guard, averaged
11 points and seven assists per game last season to help Benedictine College
Prep to a 28-7 record. He tallied 17 points and five assists per game as a
sophomore.
