BIRMINGHAM, Ala. -- The ULM track & field team wrapped up its second meet of the indoor season with a successful day at the Samford Invitational on Saturday inside the CrossPlex. The Warhawks finished with six top-10 finishes on the day.
Senior Daniel Mutai paced three Warhawks in the top 15 in the men's 3,000-meter run with a third-place finish (8:30.14). Junior Hillary Kirwa followed behind Mutai in 11th place in a time of 8:35.30. Sophomore Dusan Makevic finished 15th in the 3,000 in a time of 8:37.18.
Senior Clint Broussard turned in a solid season debut in the men's high jump with an eighth-place finish. Broussard cleared 2.03 meters on his third attempt before missing all three tries from 2.08 meters.
Freshman Nigel Cribbs made his collegiate debut with a fifth-place finish in the men's 400-meter dash. Cribs ran a time of 49.23. Junior Martin Solomon took fourth place in the men's 60-meter Hurdles Invitational finals with a time of 8:28.
Cribbs and Solomon were also part of the men's 4X400 squad that finished fifth with a time of 3:20.10. Freshman Mark Demus and senior Dimitri Hampton were also part of the team for the Warhawks.
Sophomore Jonathan Mack was in fifth place after the first day of the heptathlon on Friday, but fell to ninth place with a final total of 4,033 points in his first collegiate event.
On the women's side, sophomore Teona Glave finished 11th in the 800-meter run in a time of 2:16.00.
ULM's 4X400-meter team of Jacobi Wilson, Ariel Cain, Glave and Ashley Harvey ran a season-best time of 4:01.97 to finish in 14th place in the final event of the night.
The Warhawks are back in action Friday (Feb. 15) at the LSU Twilight in Baton Rouge, La.
