BATON ROUGE, La. – The ULM track & field team recorded several top finishes Saturday on the final day of the LSU Relays at the Bernie Moore Track Stadium.
The day was highlighted by junior Martin Solomon's second-place finish in the men's 400-meter hurdles. Solomon – competing in the 400 hurdles for the first time this season -- clocked a Sun Belt-leading time of 52.80, which also marks the 10th best time in the NCAA East Region so far this season.
The Warhawks also had a solid showing in the men's 400-meter dash with senior Dimitri Hampton finishing fifth in a time of 48.53 and freshman Nigel Cribbs finishing ninth in a time of 48.70. Both times cracked the top 25 in the NCAA East Region this season.
Freshman Corey Wesley finished second in the men's long jump with a best leap of 23-6 (7.16m). Wesley continues to lead the Sun Belt and rank eighth in the NCAA East Region with a best jump of 24-0.25 (7.32m) on the season.
Senior Clint Broussard continued his solid outdoor season with a fourth-place finish in the men's high jump. Broussard cleared 2.08 meters for the first time this season, but was unable to reach 2.12 meters in three attempts. He currently leads the Sun Belt and ranks 16th in the NCAA East Region in the high jump this season.
Sophomore Isaac Grieder made his outdoor season with a seventh-place finish in the men's javelin. Grieder threw 185-11 (56.67m) on his first attempt of the day, the fourth best mark in the Sun Belt this season.
The ULM men's 4x400-meter relay team of freshman Mark Demus, Cribbs, freshman Andrew Tate and Hampton recorded the fastest time in the Sun Belt this season and took fifth place Saturday in a time of 3:13.25.
The Warhawks' second 4x400 relay team of junior Martin Solomon, freshman James Sapp, freshman Nick Young and freshman Andre Brown finished just behind in sixth place in a time of 3:19.26.
The men's 4x100-meter relay team ran to the third fastest time in the Sun Belt this season with a time of 41.54. The team consisted of freshman Charles Lafayette, Hampton, Cribbs and Demus.
On the women's side, senior Danielle O'Donnell came up just shy of her season-best effort as she cleared 1.64 meters to take fourth place.
The women's 4x400-meter relay team of senior Jacobi Wilson, sophomore Teona Glave, freshman Brianna Reid and freshman Akino Harvey came in eighth place in a time of 3:55.86.
The Warhawks are back in action next weekend at the historic Texas Relays in Austin, Texas. Select ULM athletes are also scheduled to compete at the Stanford Invitational in Stanford, Calif.
