Tennis Wraps Up Home Slate Thursday

MONROE, La. – The ULM tennis team hosts Southern University on Thursday at 2 p.m. in its final home match of the season. The Warhawks, who are 6-0 at home this season, look to finish undefeated at Heard Stadium for the second time in the past three seasons. ULM is currently riding an 11-match home winning streak dating back to last season.

ULM (12-3) routed Southern Miss 7-0 in its last outing on April 5 in Hattiesburg, Miss. The Warhawks claimed the doubles point for the 13th time in 14 tries this season against the Golden Eagles and won all six singles matches in straight sets.

Junior Medy Blankvoort leads the Warhawks with a 13-2 record at the No. 2 singles position this season. Dating back to last season, Blankvoort is 29-3 in singles action. Blankvoort has also been dominant in doubles play this season as her and freshman Justyna Krol have posted an 11-1 record.

All seven Warhawks that have seen the court this season have a winning record in singles play. Sophomore Silvia Tumova and freshman Petra Horakova are each 12-3 on the season, while Krol has a record of 11-4. Sophomore Sophie Rufyikiri is 8-7 and freshman Iris Van Leeuwen has a record of 4-0 over the past two weeks.

Southern (8-6) leads the Southwestern Athletic Conference with a perfect 7-0 record. The Lady Jaguars topped Jackson State 7-0 on March 30 in their last outing.

The Warhawks wrap up the regular season on Saturday in Jonesboro, Ark., against conference foe Arkansas State beginning at 11 a.m.
