NACOGDOCHES, Texas – Senior Clint Broussard won his second high jump title of the 2013 outdoor season to pace the ULM track & field team at the SFA Alumni Invitational Saturday. The Warhawks also set several PRs to cap a successful day at the Fletcher Garner Track.
Broussard cleared 6-9 (2.06 meters) to continue his stellar senior season. Broussard entered the day with the top high jump mark in the Sun Belt this season.
Junior Martin Solomon finished the day with a pair of runner-up finishes. Solomon set a personal best in the 110-meter hurdles as he clocked a time of 14.50 to finish just behind Stephen F. Austin's Nick McCloud (14.35). Solomon's time is the third fastest in the Sun Belt this season.
Solomon also came up just shy of winning the 400 hurdles as he ran a time of 52.52. Sophomore Jamel Sams finished just behind Solomon in third place with a time of 54.45.
The team of Sams, freshman Nigel Cribbs, freshman Andrew Tate and senior Dimitri Hampton ran the second fastest time in the Sun Belt this season to finish in second place in the men's 4x400-meter relay.
The 4x100-meter relay team of freshman Charles Lafayette, Hampton, Cribbs and freshman Mark Demus also improved on its season-best time, running 41.41 and finishing in third place.
A pair of freshman also set personal records as Lafayette ran a time of 10.79 to finish fifth in the men's 100-meter dash and Joey Womack finished fourth in the men's javelin with a top throw of 187-05 (57.12 meters).
On the women's side, senior Danielle O'Donnell cleared 5-7 (1.70 meters) in the high jump for the first time this season to finish fourth overall. Also, sophomore Teona Glave finished fourth in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:17.70.
ULM is back in action next weekend (April 13) at the Mississippi Open in Oxford, Miss.
