ULM Contends For Title at Duck Commander Intercollegiate

EL DORADO, Ark. – The ULM men's golf team, which shot a 21-over-par 309 on Tuesday, Oct. 30, sits in second place with a 36-hole score of 611 (302-309) at the Duck Commander Intercollegiate at the par-72, 7,289-yard Mystic Creek Golf Club. The Warhawks trail first-place Eastern Kentucky (310-300 – 610) by one stroke heading into Tuesday's third and final round.
 
Nine shots separate the top nine teams on the leaderboard, and the Top 10 golfers are separated by seven strokes.
 
ULM senior Hogan Arey carded a 5-over-par 77 in the second round, good for a tie for sixth at 5-over 149 (72-77). He recorded five birdies, including three on the front nine Monday, and sits five shots off the pace set by UNCW senior Pat Cover at even-par 144 (70-74). Arey has produced pars on 17 of 36 holes, and his eight birdies are tied for the tournament lead.
 
Sophomore Guillaume Fanonnel fired a 3-over-par 75 in the second round to climb six places into a tie for 10th at 151 (76-75). Fanonnel shot 3-under on the back nine, thanks to three birdies. He has converted five birdies and recorded pars on 22 of 36 holes.
 
Sophomore Andoni Etchenique posted a 7-over-par 79 in the second round and is currently tied for 27th, with his 36-hole score of 12-over 159 (77-79). Etchenique made four birdies on Monday, including three on the back nine where he shot 2-over 38. He has tallied five birdies and managed pars on 21 of 36 holes.
 
Freshman Max Catherine carded a 6-over-par 78 and advanced 10 spots into a tie for 36th at 15-over 159 (81-78). Catherine shot an even-par 36 on the back nine Monday, recording back-to-back birdies on holes 15 and 16.
 
Sophomore Afonso Girao shot a 17-over-par 89 in the second round and slipped into a tie for 57th place at 22-over 166 (77-89). He has produced pars on 22 of 36 holes.
 
Three Warhawks are competing as individuals in this week's tournament: sophomore Thibault Santigny, sophomore Joao Girao and junior Brady Price.
 
Santigny shot a 9-over-par 81 and is currently tied for 27th at 12-over 156 (75-81). He has totaled four birdies and produced pars on 18 of 36 holes.
 
Girao improved his score by 12 shots in the second round, posting a 2-over-par 74, to jump 20 places in the standings into a tie for 42nd at 16-over 160 (86-74). He made six birdies Monday, including four on the back nine en route to a 1-under 35. Girao recorded birdies on three-straight homes on the back nine (No. 16-18).
 
Price, who finished the second round with a 14-over-par 86, sits in 55th place at 20-over 164 (78-86). He shot a 3-over 39 on the back nine Monday, including an eagle on No. 13. He has posted two birdies and pars on 19 of 36 holes.
 
The host Warhawks open the third and final round of the Duck Commander Intercollegiate on Tuesday, with a shotgun start scheduled for 8 a.m. CT.
