ULM Tennis Claims Two Individual Titles on Final Day of Pepsi Challenge

LAFAYETTE, La. ? The ULM women's tennis team closed out the Pepsi Challenge on Friday by picking up three individual victories and claiming bracket titles by senior Giovanna Arrondo and freshman Ana Burjaili at the Cajun Courts in Lafayette, La. on Sunday afternoon.

 

Arrondo recovered from a first set loss to claim a 4-6, 6-3, 6-3 victory against Northwestern State's Shultz while Burjaili breezed past McNeese State's Efimenko, 6-1, 6-2. Both Burjaili and Arrondo posted matching 4-0 records in the tournament.

 

After dropping her first match of the tournament, senior Marion Lehmann battled back to claim the consolation bracket championship after posting a 6-7, 6-4, 11-9 come-from-behind victory over Dyckman of Texas A&M Corpus Christi. Lehmann finished the tournament with a 3-1 record.

 

The Warhawks finished the three-day Pepsi Challenge with a combined record of 15-5 in singles play and 2-3 in doubles play. On the fall, ULM has posted a singles record of 49-15 in three tournaments.
