MONROE, La. ---The Warhawks tennis team continued its winning ways at home in commanding style, downing rivals Louisiana Tech and Grambling State by identical 7-0 scores at Heard Stadium on the campus of ULM on Sunday afternoon.

"We definitely took care of business like I thought we should," ULM tennis head coach Terrence De Jongh said. "I am glad that we were able to win these matches convincingly. We are going to be challenged very soon and I think it is important for us to build momentum. I thought we did that this weekend."

ULM (6-4) received stellar play in both singles and doubles and improved to 5-0 on its home surface with the victories. The Warhawks did not drop a single set in any of the 11 played singles matches and posted a 5-0 record in doubles play.

The Warhawks started the day with the 7-0 win against arch-rival Louisiana Tech. After taking a pair of commanding victories in doubles play, ULM swept through singles to finish out the Lady Techsters.

Already ahead, ULM picked up a forfeit win at No. 6 singles to take a 2-0 overall advantage. Freshman Claire Clark tallied a quick 6-0, 6-0 win at No. 5 singles before freshman Ana Burjaili wrapped up the match with a 6-3, 6-1 win in the third position.

The Warhawks also picked up straight set wins by seniors Noelia Leon (No. 1) and Giovanna Arrondo (No. 2) and by junior Marion Lehmann (No. 4) for the final 7-0 score.

Against Grambling State it was more of the same for the Warhawks. After sweeping through three matches in doubles play for the early 1-0 lead, ULM escaped singles play unscathed for the shutout win.

Clark was again dominant for the Warhawks, posting a 6-0, 6-0 straight-set shutout at No. 5 singles. Junior Sharon Makhanya also accomplished the unblemished feat at No. 3 singles.

Lehmann dropped only one game in a 6-0, 6-1 win at No. 4 singles while Burjaili and sophomore Elodie Burlet dropped only two games at the second and sixth positions, respectively.

Satge finished out the clean sweep for the Warhawks with a 6-2, 6-1 win in the top position.

ULM continues its six-match home stand on Friday, Feb. 29 when it hosts conference-foe Arkansas State at 11 a.m. The Warhawks will play three at home over the weekend before returning to the road on March 15.
