Box Score NATCHITOCHES, La. --- The bottom of the Warhawks line-up continued its strong play, but the ULM women's tennis team couldn't scratch the win column at the top in a 5-2 defeat at in-state rival Northwestern State on Thursday afternoon.
ULM (7-8) dropped its third straight on the court and begins its season-long seven match road swing with a pair of 5-2 defeats.
NSU (11-4) got off to a quick start, picking up victories at No. 2 and No. 3 doubles. Senior Noelia Leon and junior Sharon Makhanya would help the Warhawks avoid the early sweep with an 8-4 tandem win at the top position.
In singles play the Lady Demons picked up straight-set victories at the top four positions to clinch the match and claim their eighth straight win. Makhanya picked up a straight set win at No. 5 singles while junior Marion Lehmann gave ULM its second point with a 6-3, 6-3 win at No. 6 singles.
ULM returns to the court on March 26 when they take on Abilene Christian in Abilene, Texas. The Warhawks will remain in the Lone Star state to face conference foe North Texas on March 28 and Southern Methodist on March 29.
