JONESBORO, Ark. ? Sophomore Claire Clark and senior Marion Lehmann added another tally in the win column, but the rest of the Warhawk line-up struggled in a 5-2 loss by the ULM tennis team at Arkansas State on Saturday evening.

“After a very strong outing yesterday, I am disappointed by how we played today,” ULM head coach Terrence De Jongh said. “We had our chances to win, but we just couldn't get the consistency that we needed. It was another long match today, but to not perform like we showed we are capable of in yesterday's win is a real letdown.”

Arkansas State (8-5) handled the bottom half of the Warhawks doubles line-up and was able to claim the early 1-0 team lead with an 8-1 and an 8-2 win in the second and third doubles slots, respectively.

The ULM (5-5) tandem of junior Lena Satge and sophomore Ana Burjaili avoided the doubles sweep by pulling out a victory at number one doubles, 9-7.

Clark evened the match and pushed her unblemished record to 10-0 on the season with a 6-2, 6-2 straight-set win over Rone van Wyk. The nation's 118th-ranked player was moved up another slot in the line-up and responded with her team-leading 10th win in straight sets.

Lehmann matched Clark's victory and gave the Warhawks their second point of the match with a 6-4, 4-6, 6-3 win at number six singles.

After winning a tight first set, freshman Monica Winkel appeared to have a third point in hand for the Warhawks, but fell 5-7, 6-4, 10-5 in the tiebreaking set in the fifth position.

ASU would pick up straight set victories in each the first, second, and fourth singles slots to wrap up the scoring and claim the team victory.

The Warhawks close the weekend in Jonesboro, Ark., on Sunday when they face Southeast Missouri State at Allen Park at 9 a.m.
