NATCHITOCHES, La. ? Senior Marion Lehmann and sophomore Claire Clark picked up singles victories, but they weren't enough as the ULM tennis team fell to in-state rival Northwestern State 5-2 in Natchitoches, La., on Wednesday afternoon.

Clark, playing up a spot in the Warhawks line-up, picked up her 13th straight-set victory of the year. The Bossier City, La., native defeated Olga Bazhanova 6-4, 6-2 at the number two singles position.

Clark began the season at number six singles, but has progressed her way up the line-up. Ranked 118th in the nation, her lone blemish on the season came in a third-set tiebreaker against Louisiana-Lafayette last time out. She is 13-1 on the season.

Lehmann continued to keep pace with Clark for the team lead in victories, picking up her 13th win with a 6-3, 6-0 win over Dragana Colic in the sixth position. After dropping her first match of the season, the Besancon, France, native has rattled off a team-high 13-straight wins.

ULM (6-8) fell behind early after Northwestern State (10-5) swept through doubles competition. Clark and Lehmann teamed at the third position to give the Warhawks their closest finish, 8-5.

The Lady Demons won the tiebreaker in the first set at number one singles and went on to claim the victory. NSU also picked up a close straight-set victory at number three singles and a third-set win at number four singles to pull out the close match.

ULM returns to action Thursday when it hosts league foe New Orleans at Raymond Heard Stadium at 3 p.m. The Warhawks look to snap a season-high three-match skid when they host the Privateers, their first of back-to-back league foes in as many days at home.
