Margo Alvarez

Arriving at ULM from Mexico knowing very little English but a lot about tennis, Alvarez quickly mastered the language while also lifting ULM tennis to a new plateau. He led ULM to three Gulf States Conference titles, produced a 40-4 career singles record, won the GSC singles title all four years, playing one year at No. 2 and the other three at No. 1, and shared in three doubles crowns. Alvarez was also an honor student selected to Who's Who Among Students in American Universities and Colleges.

Vic Bender
Coming to ULM after two years at the University of Miami, Bender immediately became the Warhawks' top offensive lineman and one of the most decorated ULM linemen ever.   He was a unanimous all-GSC pick as a junior in 1966 and then conference Lineman of the Year and first team all-America as selected by the Associated Press, American Football Coaches Association and the NAIA as a senior in 1967.

Henry Steele
A standout from the minute he got to ULM, Steele averaged 13.9 rebounds per game as a rookie and ended his career as ULM's all-time rebound leader with 1,161 (11.97). He still ranks second and is the No. 3 all-time scoring leader with 1,933 points (19.9). He finished with 11 30-point games and six 20-rebound games and was named NAIA all-America after leading ULM to a 20-9 record in 1970-71. He was all-GSC twice and played on a U.S. team that toured Russia. Deceased, 2003.
