Joe Canal
A smooth-fielding infielder who made it look easy, Canal made first team all-GSC four straight years ? twice at second base and twice at shortstop. He hit over .300 three times, including a high of .349 with 53 RBIs and 61 runs scored in 1968 when he helped lead ULM to the GSC title, NAIA District 27 crown and an NAIA Area 5 runnerup finish. Canal finished with a .317 career batting average.

Stan Humphries
Leading ULM to the 1-AA national championship in 1987, Humphries made all-America after completing 176 of 338 passes for 2,622 yards and 18 TDs that season. He set season records for most 300 yard games (5), most consecutive games with a TD pass (8) and consecutive passes without an interception (115). In two seasons at ULM, he passed for 4,395 yards and 29 TDs. Passed for 355 yards in a half during one playoff game. Played 10 years in NFL and led San Diego to 1994 Super Bowl. Humphries will be inducted into the Louisiana Sports Hall of Fame in June 2007.

Jimmy Upton
Another of ULM's track greats, Upton became the Warhawks' only U.S. Track and Field Federation national champion when he won the 60 yard high hurdles in 1971. This also earned him all-America status with the USTFF. Upton's 51.04 is still ULM's second best clocking in the 400 intermediate hurdles. He won GSC titles in both hurdle events in 1970 and 1971, leading ULM in scoring with 103.5 points in 1971 and he is in the Ark-La-Tex Sports Track and Field Hall of Fame. Deceased, 2003.
