GULF SHORES, Ala. – Freshman Ali Lucas shot a team-low 75 during the final round of UAB's Fall Beach Bash Tuesday afternoon to lead the ULM women's golf team to second place overall and its lowest finish of the fall season on the par-72, 5,947 yard Peninsula Golf and Racquet Club.
Lucas claimed the lowest individual finish of her career as a Warhawk after ending both rounds with a total three-over-par 145 (70-75) to place third overall. The Crowley, La., native finished just two shots back from individual medalist Marissa Steen of Memphis, who fired a two-under-par 70 to shoot 143 total (73-70) and surge from a tie for fourth to take the top spot.
ULM carded a 312 during the final round to finish with 613 total (301-312) and maintain a second place finish after ending the first round in a tie for second with Marshall. First day leader Memphis held on to win the team title after shooting a final round 300 and a total 592 (292-300) while Marshall shot a combined 617 (301-316) to finish third.
Senior Britany Hanna improved by one stroke from the first round to shoot a four-over-par 76 and place 10th individually with 153 total (77-76). Senior Lina Billing carded a 79 to shoot 157 total (78-79) and tie for 17th while sophomore Lina Lagergren finished one stroke back in a tie for 19th with 158 total (76-82). Senior Taynee Pearson rounded out the Warhawks finishing tied for 37th.
With the conclusion of the final round of UAB's Fall Beach Blast ULM has completed play for the fall season. The Warhawks will return to competition in the spring with the final tournament schedule still to be announced.
