SEDONA,Ariz. - The ULM women's golf team jumped two spots and finished in the ninth spot on the final day of the Red Rocks Invitational at Oak Creek Country Club. The Warhawks finished nine strokes better as a team on Sunday, while Angela Drane and Taynee Pearson each shot in the 70s.
Drane paced ULM on Sunday with a 77, six strokes better than the opening round, to finish in a tie for 20th. Her six-shot improvement was the largest of any Warhawk golfer.
Northern Arizona jumped one spot to claim the team trophy with a 301 final round and 613 total. Cal Poly, the tournament's opening round leader, shot 310 to finished in second and four shots back.
Paige Rachor (Portland) jumped five spots with an even-par 72 to claim the individual trophy with a 5-over 149 total. Maddy Fletcher and Kristin Locke, both of Cal Poly, finished in a tie for second place with a 6-over total.
ULM's Pearson finished in a tie for 27th after stroking a 79 to finish with a 162 total. Lina Billing finished with an 164 total (83-81) to claim a tie for 37th. Lina Lagergren (t60th) and Mona Brown (t85th) rounded out the Warhawks lineup with a 169 and 173 total, respectively.
Pearson finished 2-over-par on par-3s, Drane shot 4-over-par on par-4s, and Lina Billing concluded the tournament 2-over-par on par-5s. Pearson also led ULM with three birdies, while Drane sank 19 pars.
