BIRMINGHAM, Ala.-ULM's Angela
Drane fired a one-under-par 71 on Tuesday to move up one spot and finish in
second place at the Samford University Women's Intercollegiate at the
6,457-yard Limestone Springs Golf Course. The Warhawks maintained their
position following the opening two rounds and finished in fourth place.
Drane improved her score each
round and finished the three-round tournament with eight birdies. She now has
two first place finishes, two second place finishes and a third place finish in
six tournaments this year.
Jacksonville State overtook
South Alabama to win the team title for the second consecutive year. The
Gamecocks finished six strokes ahead of Samford and South Alabama, while the
Warhawks were 13 strokes off the pace. The Warhawks carded a 917 over the three
rounds after firing a 302 on Tuesday - the 917 is the second-lowest 54-hole
total by ULM this season. South Alabama's Fanny Eineren finished five strokes
ahead of Drane to capture individual medalist honors.
Lina Billing turned in her
best performance of the season for the Warhawks as she finished in a tie for
fifth after carding a 73 on Tuesday and a 222 for the tournament. The 222 was 14
strokes better than her previous 54-hole best this season.
Lina Lagergren shot the
tournament's only eagle as she finished 24th for the Warhawks, while
Britany Hanna tied for 31st and Taynee Pearson tied for 36th.
The Warhawks return to action
in two weeks at the UALR Golf Classic in Hot Springs, Ark., on Mar. 29-30.
