Record 112 ULM Student-Athletes Receive Sun Belt Conference Academic Honors

NEW ORLEANS-The Sun Belt Conference honored a record 112 ULM student-athletes on Monday when the league announced its Commissioner's List and Academic Honor Roll.

ULM had a record 53 student-athletes land on the Commissioner's List, which honors all student-athletes recording a 3.5 grade point average or better during the 2009-10 academic year - the previous best was 42 student-athletes for the 2007-08 academic year. The Warhawks also had 59 student-athletes named to the Academic Honor Roll, which is awarded to those maintaining a 3.0-3.49 GPA.

The 112 ULM student-athletes honored by the Sun Belt are the most in school history.  The three highest marks have all come in the last three years - 107 (2007-08) and 106 (2008-09). The conference also set a record with a total of 1,710 athletes honored topping the previous high of 1,690 set last year.

The women's track & field / cross country teams led the way for ULM placing 17 student-athletes on the two lists. The women's basketball team had five student-athletes named to the Commissioner's List which tied them with Florida International for the most in the league. A total of 16 soccer student-athletes were named to both lists and the softball team had 12 total student athletes listed, including seven on the Commissioner's List - tied for second best in the Sun Belt.
