FT. WORTH, Texas – The ULM women's golf team maintained its position following the first day of the Worldlink North Texas Classic as the Warhawks finished the tournament in 11th place after shooting 318 in the final round on Tuesday (328-304-318-945).
Sophomore Lina Lagergren's solid performance led the Warhawks as she carded a 74 in the final round to jump nine places and finish tied for 13th individually (76-77-74-227).
Tournament host North Texas claimed the team title over first day leader Sam Houston State, firing a tournament-low 284 the final day to win by 13 strokes (297-291-284-872). Sam Houston State 293-294-298-885) finished 13 strokes ahead of third place Lamar (306-303-292-901), with Houston Baptist (299-300-310-909) and Texas A&M Corpus Christi (313-300-300-913) rounding out the top five. Bowling Green State's Susannah Grunden shot a two-under-par 70 in the final round to win the individual title.
Freshman Ali Lucas jumped five spots from the previous day after a final round 78 to finish tied for 42nd overall (89-72-78-239). Seniors Lina Billing and Monica Brown each placed tied for 50th, Billing shot a 79 and Brown an 82 for a total 242. Senior Britany Hanna, who was unable to play the first round due to illness, finished the day with an 85.
The Warhawks will take two weeks break before hosting the Fred Marx Invitational Sept. 27-28 at the Bayou DeSiard Country Club in Monroe, La.
