ULM Ties for Fifth at Fred Marx Invitational

MONROE, La. – The ULM women's golf team improved one spot after Tuesday's final round of the Fred Marx Invitational to tie for fifth overall at the par-72, 6,016 yard Bayou DeSiard Country Club.

Sophomore Lina Lagergren carded a 77 the final round to jump two spots into the top-10, finishing in 10th place after shooting a total 234 (79-78-77). Freshman Ali Lucas matched Lagergren's five-over-par 77 to finish with a 235 total, just one stroke back in a tie for 11th.

Troy's Signy Arnorsdottir held on to her first day lead after shooting 219 total (71-73-75) to finish with medalist honors. Lagergren and Lucas finished third and fourth overall in total pars, accumulating 35 and 31 apiece while Lagergren finished nine-over in par-4 scoring and Lucas one-under in par-3 scoring.

Troy and South Alabama jumped ahead of first-day leader Sam Houston State to claim first and second place, respectively. The Trojans shot 926 total (309-314-303) to finish six strokes ahead of the Jaguars (317-309-306-932). Sam Houston State placed third overall (313-307-316-936) and Houston Baptist fourth (315-314-318-947) while SBC opponent Western Kentucky tied with ULM for fifth place.

Senior Lina Billing stayed consistent the final round by shooting an 81 to match her score from the first and second rounds and place 35th individually (81-81-81-243). Senior Britany Hanna shot a total 245 to tie for 37th and senior Monica Brown finished 59th overall after carding a 257.

The Warhawks will travel to Bradenton, Fla., next Monday and Tuesday to compete in the USF-Waterlefe Invitational.
