LAFAYETTE, La. -- Medy
Blankvoort and Vivian Polak advanced to the championship match of their
respective flights following Saturday's action at the Ragin Cajun Classic
hosted by UL-Lafayette. The Warhawks doubles team of Blankvoort and Monica
Winkel also advanced to the championship match of their flight.
Blankvoort rallied for a
three-set victory in thrilling fashion over ULL's Audrey Woodland 1-6, 6-4,
10-8 to advance to the championship match of A1 Singles. Polak also advanced to
the championship match of her flight with a 6-1, 6-4 victory over Alex Dachos
from Middle Tennessee in B1 singles.
Winkel fell in her semifinal
match to South Alabama's Mariya Krachok 6-0, 6-1 in A2 singles and Isabelle
Rocher lost 6-2, 6-3 to Alessandra Pennesi from Lamar in the backdraw in B1
singles.
Blakvoort and Winkel will play
for the A1 doubles championship on Sunday after defeated ULL's Woodland and Briggitt
Marcovich 8-4. Polak and Rocher fell in their backdraw match 8-4 against Marietta
Bigus and Dachos from Middle Tennessee.
Play at the Ragin Cajun
Classic will conclude on Sunday.
