Box Score MONROE, La. - The ULM tennis team defeated Southern 6-1 Saturday afternoon at Heard Stadium less than 24 hours after putting the same result on Central Arkansas. The Warhawks improved to 4-1 on the young season with the victory.
ULM swept all three doubles matches with ease to take the opening point of the match. The Warhawks lost just six combined games during the three doubles matches as they won 8-4 on court one and 8-1 on courts two and three.
Claire Clark improved to 41-2 over the past three seasons in singles with a 6-0, 6-1 victory on court one, while Medy Blankvoort remained unbeaten this spring with a 6-2, 6-4 victory on court three. Monica Winkel improved to 4-1 on the season with a 6-2, 6-2 win at number two and Vivian Polak also ran her record to 4-1 with a 6-0, 6-0 win at number four. Letha Gaigher won her third straight match with a 6-0, 6-1 victory at number five - Gaigher lost just one game in her victories over UCA and Southern.
The Jaguars (1-3) lone point in the match came at number six singles thanks to a 6-1, 6-1 victory by Lois Alexis.
ULM will conclude its three-match homestand on Tuesday when it hosts Alcorn State at 1:30 p.m. in a match that was postponed earlier in the season.
