ULM Six Strokes Off Pace at Lady Jaguar Invitational

MOBILE, Ala. – Four Warhawks carded back-to-back rounds in the 70s during the first day of the Lady Jaguar Invitational hosted by Sun Belt Conference rival South Alabama Monday to lead the ULM women's golf team to third place entering the final round on the par-72, 6,071 yard Azalea City Golf Club. 

Freshman Ali Lucas headlined the ULM lineup with identical scores of 76 in the first and second rounds for a combined 152 to sit five strokes off the lead in a tie for seventh overall. Kristen Golighty of South Alabama leads the field after shooting a three-over-par 147 total. 

ULM carded a 310 in the first round before improving six strokes in the second round to shoot 304 and tie its second-lowest score of the season. With a combined 614 the Warhawks are just six strokes off first-day leader Samford which finished with rounds of 300 and 308 for 608 total. Host South Alabama is just one stroke back in second place with 609 total (306-303) while Southern Miss (306-309-615) and Morehead State (311-307-618) complete the top-five.
 
Aside from South Alabama, two other Sun Belt schools are also participating in the tournament as Troy is in sixth place at 621 (312-209) followed by Western Kentucky in eighth place at 641 (319-322).

All five Warhawks finished within seven strokes of each other as Lina Lagergren improved three strokes in the second round with a 75 to shoot 153 total and remain one stroke back from Lucas in a tie for ninth individually. Lina Billing and Britany Hanna also sit in the top-20 overall as each Warhawk carded first round 78s before a second round 76 and 77, respectively, to tie for 13th and tie for 18th. Taynee Pearson rounds out the lineup in a tie for 33rd place after shooting a combined 159. 

ULM will tee off for the final round of the Lady Jaguar Invitational tomorrow morning at Azalea City Golf Club with a shotgun start scheduled for 8:30 a.m.
