MOBILE, Ala. – The ULM women's golf team struggled during
the final round of South Alabama's Lady Jaguar Invitational Tuesday morning as
it fell three spots from third place entering today to finish sixth overall on
the par-72, 6,071 yard Azalea City Golf Club.
Lina Billing claimed her first top-10 finish of the season
after shooting 77 in the final round for a total score of 231 (78-76-77) and
tied for 10th individually to lead the Warhawks. Kristen Golightly
of South Alabama held onto her first day lead and took medalist honors after
finishing with a six-over-par 222 total.
ULM carded its highest score of the tournament during the
final round, shooting 317 for a combined 931 (310-304-317). Samford claimed the
team title with 914 total (300-308-306) while tournament host South Alabama
(306-303-307) and Southern Miss (306-309-301) tied for second place two strokes
back at 916. Morehead State finished fourth with 921 and Sun Belt Conference
rival Troy ended up fifth with 928. ULM finished ahead of fellow Sun Belt
member Western Kentucky which placed ninth overall.
Lina Lagergren finished just one stroke back from Billing
after carding 79 to total 232 (78-75-79) and tie for 16th overall.
Britany Hanna matched her first round score of 78 for 233 total (78-77-78) to
place 21st while Ali Lucas shot her highest round of the tournament
to fall from a tie for seventh to a tie for 28th at 237. Taynee
Pearson tied for 39th with 242 to round out the Warhawk lineup.
ULM will continue its season next Friday through Sunday when
it tees off at the LSU Golf Classic in Baton Rouge, La.
