BATON ROUGE, La. – The ULM's women's golf team experienced difficulty
in the first round of the LSU Golf Classic Friday afternoon to land it in 21st
place entering the second round of play on the par-72, 6,186 yard University Club.
Lina Billing was the only Warhawk to break 80 Friday as she
carded a four-over-par 76 to put her in a tie for 29th overall. Billing had two birdies for the day, first on
the par-3, 151 yard 13th hole before starting her back nine with one
on the par-4, 375 yard first hole. The Stockholm, Sweden, native is just five
strokes off the pace as Catherine O'Donnell of UNC and Natalie Sheary of Wake
Forest each shot a low one-under-par 71.
ULM shot 332 and is 31 strokes from breaking into the
top-five. Wake Forest leads the deeply competitive field with 294 in the first
round, four strokes ahead of second place Texas A&M (298). Tournament host
LSU and Duke are tied for third at 300 while Alabama and Virginia sit tied at
301 to complete the top-five.
Taynee Pearson had the second-lowest score for ULM after
shooting 83 to tie for 91st overall. Lina Lagergren and Ali Lucas
sit tied for 99th and 103rd, respectively, while Britany
Hanna is in 110th place individually.
The Warhawks tee off for the second round of the LSU Golf
