MONROE, La. - The ULM tennis team battled to its 13th straight victory with a 6-1 decision against conference foe Troy Sunday afternoon at Heard Stadium. The match was close throughout as five of the six singles matches went to a third set.

"Since joining the conference, we have always had close matches with Troy," ULM coach Terrence De Jongh said. "Even though we won 6-1, the singles matches were very competitive. Even with tough singles matches, the girls showed big hearts by winning the third sets."

ULM won the doubles point for the 13th consecutive time to build a 1-0 lead heading into the singles matches. The Warhawks have now won the doubles point in 14 of their 15 matches this season.

After Medy Blankvoort and Letha Gaigher dropped an 8-5 decision to Karoline Grymel and Leonie Guijt at No. 1 doubles, the Warhawks finished off the doubles point with a pair of 8-1 victories.

Claire Clark and Monica Winkel moved their record to 14-1 this season with a decision over Lyubov Dorofeeva and Gabriella Veiga at No. 2 doubles, while Ana Burjaili and Vivian Polak moved to 13-2 on the season with a victory against Olfa Dhaoui and Rosaura Ramirez-Vega at the No. 3 position.

Gaigher made quick work of Olivia Battye with a 6-2, 6-0 decision at No. 6 singles to give the Warhawks a 2-0 advantage. Gaigher upped her record to 11-3 this season with the victory.

Clark moved to 14-0 this season with a 5-7, 6-1, 6-0 come-from-behind victory against Grymel at the No. 1 position to get ULM within one point of winning the match.

Winkel clinched the match for ULM with a 6-4, 2-6, 6-1 victory over Dhaoui at the No. 2 position. Winkel is now 12-3 this season.

Troy picked up its only point of the match as Guijt defeated Burjaili 6-2, 5-7, 6-2 at the No. 3 position. The loss was just the third of the season for Burjaili.

Polak defeated Troy's Ramirez-Vega at the No. 5 position to give the Warhawks a 5-1 advantage. Polak took the first set 6-4 before falling 3-6 in the second. Polak pushed out to a 4-1 lead in the third set before Ramirez-Vega retired early.
