AUSTIN, Texas - Sophomore Daniel Mutai won the men's
5,000-meter run on the opening day of the 84th Clyde Littlefield
Texas Relays Wednesday evening at Myers Stadium.
Mutai clocked a time of 14:52.15 to narrowly defeat Patrick
Strong of North Texas, who finished in a time of 14:52.44. Mutai also finished
ahead of a pair of Big 12 athletes and a member of Team Rogue Elite. His time
was the third-fastest in the Sun Belt this season.
The Warhawks continue action in the Texas Relays Friday with
the finals of the men's javelin, women's shot put and discuss and the
preliminary rounds of the men's 100-meter dash, men's 4X400-meter relay and
men's 110-meter hurdles.
