Box Score MONROE, La. -- The ULM tennis
team cruised past Sun Belt Conference rival UALR 7-0 Wednesday afternoon at
Heard Stadium to run its win streak out to 14 straight matches.
The Warhawks swept all three
doubles matches and lost just 21 games over the six singles matches to improve
to 15-1 on the season. ULM has outscored its opponents 90-15 in its 15 wins
this season.
In doubles, Medy Blankvoort
and Letha Gaigher improved to 10-4 as a tandem with an 8-3 victory on court
one, Monica Winkel and Claire Clark moved to 15-1 with an 8-3 win on court two
while Ana Burjaili and Vivian Polak improved to 14-2 with an 8-4 win on court
three. The Warhawks have won the doubles point in all 15 victories this season.
Winkel made quick work of UALR's
(10-11) Yana Kakovkina on court two 6-0, 6-0, while Polak dispatched of
Nathalia Garay 6-1, 6-1 on court five to give the Warhawks a 3-0 lead; Winkel
improved to 13-3 on the year and Polak moved to 13-2.
Clark clinched the match for
ULM with a 6-1, 6-1 win on court one. The senior from Bossier City, La., is now
15-0 on the season and 53-2 over the past three spring seasons. Burjaili improved
to 11-3 on the year with a 6-4, 6-4 win on court four, Medy Blankvoort won 6-2,
6-0 on court three to move to 9-5 on the season and Gaigher won 6-4, 6-3 on
court six to improve to 13-3.
The Warhawks wrap up the home portion of their schedule this weekend when they
host Delta State on Saturday at 1:30 p.m. and UL-Lafayette at 1 p.m. on Sunday.
ULM will honor its two seniors, Clark and Burjaili, prior to Saturday's match.
