Box Score MONROE, La. -- The ULM tennis
team dispatched of Delta State 7-0 Saturday afternoon on Senior Day at Heard
Stadium. It is the fifth shutout by the Warhawks in their last seven matches as
they ran their win streak out to 15 straight matches.
ULM honored
its two seniors, Claire Clark and Ana Burjaili, before the match and the duo
did not disappoint the crowd on Super Warhawk Weekend. In singles, Clark won
6-0, 6-3 on court one and Burjaili won 6-2, 6-0 on court three. The pair also
turned in a pair of 8-2 doubles victories with teammates Monica Winkel and
Vivian Polak, respectively.
The
Warhawks won the doubles point for the 16th time of the season with
wins on courts two and three. They then went on and dominated play in singles
dropping just 14 games over the six matches. Delta State (11-5) entered the week
ranked 34th in NCAA Division II.
Winkel won
6-3, 6-3 on court two, Polak won 6-0, 6-1 on court five, Letha Gaigher won 6-0,
6-0 on court six and Medy Blankvoort took the first set on court four 6-2 and
then her opponent retired after one game in the second set.
The
Warhawks wrap up the home portion of their schedule Sunday afternoon against
UL-Lafayette. The match is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m. at Heard Stadium and
fans will be treated to free pizza and drinks.
