BATON ROUGE, La. - Josh Howard and Richard McKay paced the ULM track &
field team with their first titles of the outdoor season, and three other Warhawks
claimed top-five finishes at the LSU Alumni Gold Saturday.
McKay took first place in the men's javelin with the 10th best throw in the nation this season, 241-00 (73.46 meters), which beat out 17 other participants in the event.
Howard jumped a season-best 50-2.00 (15.29 meters) to top
all five competitors and post ULM's longest jump of the year. It is also the
second-best mark in the Sun Belt Conference this season.
Luther Ambrose turned in the best 100-meter dash in the Sun
Belt this season by clocking 10.32 to place ninth. He beat his previous fastest
time of the season (10.44) which he ran at the Texas Relays.
On the women's side, Teona Glave was the runner-up in the 800
meter run with the ninth best time in the league this season, 2:14.94. Denise
Myers finished third for the 3,000 meter steeplechase at 11:45.20, the eight
lowest mark in the conference.
In the jumps, Danielle O'Donnell topped a height of 5-0.25
(1.71 meters) to take fourth in the high jump.
