JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - ULM senior Josh Howard placed 22nd in
the men's triple jump Friday on day two of the NCAA East Preliminary at Hodges
Stadium on the campus of North Florida University.
Howard had a best jump of 49-5.5 (15.07m) on his
third and final jump to finish just behind UL-Lafayette's Kenneth Bellard. The
top 12 finishers qualified for next week's NCAA Championships in Des Moines,
Iowa.
Howard was the fifth of seven ULM athletes to
compete at the East Prelims. Yesterday, junior Daniel Mutai qualified for the
NCAA Championships with an 11th-place finish in the men's 10,000-meter run. The
Warhawks will have two more opportunities to qualify for the NCAA Championships
Saturday with junior Clint Broussard competing in the men's high jump and
