GREENSBORO, N.C. – ULM sophomore Jamel Sams capped off a successful season with a 17th place finish in the quarterfinals of the 400-meter hurdles Friday evening at the NCAA Track & Field East Preliminary Championships at Irwin Belk Track on the campus of North Carolina A&T.
Sams, a native of Longview, Texas, clocked a time of 52.23 to finish 17th out of 24 participants. Only the top 12 finishers advanced on the NCAA Championships in two weeks.
Sams qualified for the quarterfinals on Thursday with a time of 52.02.
Senior Clint Broussard is the final Warhawk to compete at the East Preliminaries as he seeks to qualify for the NCAA Championships in the men's high jump Saturday at 5 p.m. CT.
