MONROE, La. – ULM track and field incoming freshman Jevaughn Shaw recorded a seventh-place finish in the discus throw at the 2013 Junior Pan American Championships.
Shaw traveled to Meddellin, Columbia to represent Jamaica in this year's games where he threw a toss of 55.19m. Junior Isaac Grieder registered a 40.22m discus throw last season at the Sun Belt Championships to lead the Warhawks.
The Junior Pan American Championships, for qualifiers 19 and under, were established in 1980 and are held every other year. The championships games include track and field events for competitors from all over the Americas and are already set to be held in Edmonton, Canada in 2015.
Shaw is one of five Warhawks announced so far in the 2013 signing class for throwers.
ULM will continue its fall workout program in preparation for the indoor track and field schedule. Dates and times are still to be announced.
