HATTIESBURG, MISS. -- An optimistic ULM team fell from eigth to fourteenth after shooting 21-over par 305 in the third and final round of the Sam Hall Intercollegiate, hosted by Southern Miss.
Greg Smail, a redshirt sophomore, led the Warhawks in individual competition, finishing in a tie for 26th place (67-69-78--214). Smail finished 15 strokes behind individual winner Joe Sakulpolphaisan from Mississippi State.
In team competition, ULM finished 37 strokes behind tournament winner UL-Lafayette.
“We had a letdown today after playing so well yesterday and being in position for a nice finish. We will learn from the experience and be better next time out,” head coach Walt Williams said.
The Warhawks will begin preparations for the second tournament of the season, the Houston Baptist Men's Intercollegiate, scheduled to take place September 30th.
