MONROE, La. -- The ULM sand volleyball program begins its second season March 8 and its roster features many of the same players who helped the Warhawks to a national tournament last season under the guidance of second-year head coach David Fischer.
The Warhawks have home-and-home dual meets with UAB, LSU and Tulane and will also participate in several tournaments including the prestigious Fiesta on Siesta Key (Apr. 12-13) and a high-caliber tournament at Florida State (Apr. 18-19).
Other tournaments include the season opener at North Florida (Mar. 8-9), a trip to South Carolina (Mar. 22-23) and Georgia State (Mar. 29)
ULM opens the home slate on March 14 against the Blazers at 2:30 p.m. before paying a visit to LSU on March 18. Other home dates include April 8, when Tulane returns the Warhawks' April 5 visit and April 16 against LSU, both scheduled to start at 2:30 p.m.
The Warhawks conclude the regular season on Apr. 27 with a pair of matches at UAB as part of the UAB Tournament.
The squad is highlighted by returning All-American Zuzana Markova. Markova, now a graduate student, and then-dual partner Tetiana Sukach were the only duo to grab a set from the individual champions from USC in last year's AVCA National Tournament.
Maria Garcia, Iren Marinova and Blanca Ocana are the other seniors hitting the beach this summer. Meanwhile, Marcela Araya, Rachel Arnason, Alannah Cullum, Kayla Kane, Michelle McNamee highlight a junior-heavy team.
Kylie Parks is the lone sophomore and is joined by freshmen Celine Flores, Hope Pawlik, Kaitlyn Shearer and Hadley Swartz.
The ULM Sand Volleyball courts are located behind Raymond Heard Stadium. Admission to all three ULM home matches is free.
