PALM DESERT, Calif. -- The ULM men's golf team sits in a tie for 15th place after the second round of the Wyoming Cowboy Desert Intercollegiate, hosted by the University of Wyoming.
The Warhawks carded a 7-over 295 to advance in the current standings; they will head into the final round of the tournament just nine strokes away from the top 10 teams.
“Today we played with TCU and Kansas State; we tied KSU and moved up one spot in the field. Tomorrow we will be playing with KSU again and Nebraska, so we are excited to be playing with the big boys again and know that these experiences will help us in our future spring events and the Sun Belt Conference,” head coach Walt Williams said, “We look to put four scores together tomorrow and move past both these big schools!”
ULM is currently seven strokes in front of fellow Sun Belt team UALR.
Charlie Macneal led the Warhawks in the second round after shooting a 1-under 71.
“Charlie, Mason and Calum played solid but we needed one more score to move up a little more,” Williams said.
The final round of the tournament will begin Sunday morning at 7:10 a.m. PT.
