AUSTIN, Texas – Becoming the first-ever ULM track & field student-athlete to earn an invitation to the Texas Relays in the decathlon, Isaac Grieder will compete against 24 of the nation's best on March 28-29.
The Garland, Texas native will go up against a field that includes last year's nation champion Johannes Hock from Texas, Curtis Beach from Duke who is a former National Indoor champion, and numerous other student-athletes that have qualified for the Outdoor NCAA Championships in the past.
Grieder earned the invitation after winning the heptathlon at the Sun Belt Championships with a school record score of 5,310 points. He additionally represented the Warhawks on the All-Conference First-Team.
The junior set personal-records in five of the seven events at the SBC Championships. He registered a 1.88m in the high jump, 6.65m in the long jump, 7.05 in the 60m, 8.57 in the 60m hurdles and 2:57.66 in the 1000m. Grieder recorded a personal-record of 4.83m in the pole vault earlier in the season at the Vulcan Invite.
The Warhawks will wait to see if any other student-athletes earn invitations to compete in other events.
