ATLANTA -- The ULM tennis program fought hard but suffered a 4-3 setback against South Carolina State Saturday afternoon at Atlanta's Piedmont Park.

The Warhawks (4-7) fell just short in the doubles point and narrowly missed rallying in singles.

With the top two doubles flights split, Petra Horakova and Angela Tejedor had a 7-5 advantage, but the Bulldogs' Dakota Brown and Oleksandra Filippova rallied to close out the set 8-7 and  took the point for South Carolina State.

At singles, Medy Blankvoort and Petra Horakova won the top two flights in straight sets while Sophie Rufyikiri rallied to win 6-1, 6-0 after falling 6-3 in the first set.

At the fifth flight, Tejedor had a chance to seal the match for the Warhawks but the Bulldogs' Dakota Brown took the third set, 7-5, to clinch the match.

"Angie was the last match and had the decider and just could not pull it at the end," head coach Terrence De Jongh said.

ULM returns to action Mar. 29 at UTEP.  The Warhawks will remain in El Paso, Texas, for a Sunday contest against Western New Mexico.
