MONROE, La. – Michael Johnson from the ULM football team was named Warhawk Male of the Week, while an undefeated weekend earned Tiffany Mylonas from the tennis program Warhawk Female of the Week, announced Tuesday.
Johnson, a linebacker, was a key part of the Warhawk defense on Saturday afternoon at Idaho.
Johnson came up with his first career fumble recovery late in the first quarter. Johnson's recovery gave the Warhawks the ball at the Vandal 15 yard line and two plays later, the Warhawks found the endzone as Garrett Smith and Marcus Green connected.
In the second quarter, Johnson again recovered a Matt Linehan fumble and the Warhawks again cashed in as Craig Ford connected on a 44 yard field goal. In addition to his two fumble recoveries, the Maumelle, Ark., native finished with four total tackles and one sack against the Vandals.
On the court, Mylonas won her flight at the Big East Tennis Tournament last weekend in New Orleans as she swept through her three matches.
The freshman got it started by downing FAMU's Henry 6-2, 6-2, and followed it up with a 6-1, 6-2 victory over Nancy Karaky from Troy onFriday. The Brussels, Belgium product won her championship match, 7-5, 6-3 over Emma Olina from Barry.
It marked the fall finale for Mylonas and the Warhawks as she ended it on a high note. Mylonas was also the last one standing in her flight at the UCA Invitational earlier this season.
