Box Score NACOGDOCHES, Texas – Petra Horakova captured her sixth victory of the season as the ULM tennis team fell 4-3 to Stephen F. Austin on Sunday in Schlief Tennis Complex.
The Warhawks (4-2) made a furious comeback to tie the match after falling behind 3-0, but it was not enough as SFA (4-2) captured the win.
The Warhawks won three courts in a row as Jana Duhanova garnered a 6-4, 6-1 victory over Dhanielle Quevedo on court five, while Letha Gaigher came from behind to beat Macarena Sedona Acosta 4-6, 6-1, 6-0 on court six. Horakova tied the match with a 6-2, 6-0 win on court three.
Sophie Rufyikiri then dropped a 6-4, 7-5 decision to Malena Gordo as SFA clinched the match.
The Warhawks dropped the doubles point to start the match. On court one, Rufyikiri and Horakova defeated Gordo and Quevedo 9-7, but Amy Olivier and Gaigher fell 8-6 to Denise Maxl and Macarena Sedano Acosta on court two.
Anandhi Botha and Duhanova were then topped 8-6 by Valeria Terentyeva and Vivienne Kulicke as SFA clinched the doubles point.
Botha was defeated 6-0, 6-2 by SFA's Kulicke on court four in singles, while court one saw Olivier fall 6-3, 6-0 to Maxl.
ULM travels south next Sunday to take on LSU in Baton Rouge at 3:00 p.m.
