Box Score NEW ORLEANS, La. – The ULM tennis team (15-6) captured a 4-1 victory over Georgia Southern (10-8) on Friday morning in the quarterfinals of the Sun Belt Conference Tournament at the City Park Tennis Center.
The day began with singles. The Warhawks jumped out to an early 2-0 lead as Sophie Rufyikiri topped Guilia Riepe 6-2, 6-1 on court four, while Jana Duhanova defeated Daria Vasekina 6-1, 6-0 on court five.
Petra Horakova fell 6-4, 6-3 to Anne Kurzweil on court two, but ULM extended their lead again as Letha Gaigher collected a 6-4, 6-3 victory over Francisca Norregaard on court six. Caitlin Herb then clinched the match with a 6-4, 6-3 win over Mary Phillips Smith on court three.
The Warhawks will continue tournament play tomorrow as they face South Alabama in the semifinals at the City Park Tennis Center.
