NEW ORLEANS, La. - The ULM men's golf team capped off a stellar season that saw the Warhawks win a title at the Wallace Jones Invitational, finish second at the Cardinal Intercollegiate and place third at the Sun Belt Championship by landing three players on the Sun Belt All-Conference awards list.
Calum Hill earned a spot on the All-Conference Second Team, while both Mason Seaborn and Greg Smail scored Honorable Mention nods.
“I'm very proud of these guys for their success this season and glad that the other coaches in the Sun Belt recognized it and honored them by selecting them to the All-Conference teams,” head coach Walt Williams said.
Highlighted by an individual title at the Wallace Jones Invitational, Hill landed his name on the list for the first time in his career. The sophomore from Edinburgh, Scotland paced the Warhawks with an average score of 72.41, just above par of 72 on most courses played this season.
“Calum had a special sophomore year that included five top-10 finishes and an 11-under par win at the Wallace Jones Intercollegiate,” Williams added.
In 12 tournaments, Hill placed inside the top-five of the individual leaderboard three times. Most impressive is the fact that Hill registered 20 rounds at par or under despite only playing 34 rounds on the season.
Seaborn wrapped up his ULM career with a spectacular showing at the Sun Belt Championship, posting a fifth place finish behind a dominant 68 (-3) final round.
“Mason finished his career in style with a 60-foot birdie putt across the green for his final collegiate shot as a Warhawk senior to post a 68 (-3),” Williams said. “He wrapped up an illustrious career with a 73.90 average as a senior and was selected to the All-Conference team for the second-straight year.”
The senior from Alabama picked up the intensity in the final stretch of the season, achieving three top-five finishes in the final five tournaments. Seaborn shattered a school record for lowest round ever with a 64 (-8) at the Sam Hall Intercollegiate.
Smail concluded an outstanding junior campaign shooting an even-213 to place fifth at the Sun Belt Championship.
“Greg had an excellent junior year, posting his first career win at the Louisville Cardinal Invite with a 5-under par total,” Williams added. “He finished the season with a fifth place finish at conference and a 73.6 scoring average for the year.
The Musselburgh, Scotland native registered three top-five finishes, including that individual title he won and a second place result at conference foe UALR's event. Smail set a new career low in the first round of the season, carding a 66, five strokes under par at the Sam Hall Intercollegiate.
“These guys all deserved the honor and I'm very happy for them and the accolades for Warhawks golf,” Williams said.
