Warhawks Run On Saturday To Strong Performances In Choctaw Open

Event: Choctaw Open

Location: Clinton, Mississippi

Monroe, La. – The ULM cross country team competed Saturday in the Choctaw Open hosted by Mississippi College and had a successful day running. The Men's team finished in second place behind UL-Lafayette while the Women's team also posted a second place run finishing behind Mississippi Valley State.  

NOTABLES

-On the Men's side, the Warhawks were paced by Kipkirui Victor who finished fourth and Elias Keter who finished fifth, as Victor ran a 25:27.22 while Keter ran a 25:42.71 as both finished within a 30 seconds of the winner on the Men's side from UL-Lafayette.

-On the Women's side the Warhawks were paced by Edith Jebet, who finished in fifth place running a 19:12.80, a little under a minute behind the winner from the event who ran a 18:20.60 from UL-Lafayette. Kaitlin Fleming finished in 10th place on Saturday running a 19:58.50 as she finished second of all Warhawk women runners.

-The Warhawks had 10 men run in the Choctaw Open on Saturday while ULM had a nine-member women's team in that race.

-Schools that competed over the two events were: Alcorn State, Belhaven, Blue Mountain, Grambling, Jackson State, Louisiana College, Millsaps, Mississippi Valley State, Mobile, New Orleans, Nicholls State, Northwestern State, Rhodes, Rust, Southeastern Louisiana, Southern, Spring Hill, Louisiana-Lafayette, Louisiana-Monroe, Union, William Carey, Williams Baptist and Xavier-Louisiana.

 

UP NEXT

-ULM will now begin preparation for the Sun Belt Championships that will be contested in two weeks time. The event will be run in Dothan, Alabama on October 29.
