MONROE, La. – ULM tennis and men's basketball combined for an undefeated week, and Majok Deng and Tiffany Mylonas were honored with Warhawk Male and Female of the Week, respectively, announced Tuesday.
Deng won both Sun Belt Conference Student-Athlete of the Week and College Sports Madness SBC Player of the Week on Monday. It came after he averaged 25.0 points per game against Little Rock and Arkansas State, both resulting in wins.
The Adelaide, Australia native helped keep ULM undefeated at home with an 11-0 record at Fant-Ewing Coliseum and 8-0 in conference play.
Deng now leads the Sun Belt Conference in scoring and ranks top-35 in the country with 19.9 points per game. He's scored at least 20 points 10 times this year and has tallied at least 13 points in 17 of his last 18 appearances.
It marked the fifth career Warhawk of the Week award for Deng.
Mylonas shared the team lead with the most-recent Sun Belt Player of the Week Luana Stanciu with a 5-0 singles record and 4-1 doubles mark. The freshman from Brussels, Belgium, won with ease in both of her singles battles, winning 6-1, 6-3 on Wednesday and 6-1, 6-4 on Sunday. She also won her final three singles matches in the fall.
The two doubles wins were the pair's biggest routs of the season. ULM is 5-0 for the second time since 2013 and playing with an all-freshman lineup.
