Box Score CONWAY, Ark. -- Luana Stanciu picked up her first match-clinching victory against her best opponent yet, and ULM got its third 4-3 win in as many matches this season on Sunday afternoon.
The Focsania, Romania, native, won 7-5, 5-7, 7-5 over No. 114 Marli Van Heerdan to close it out. Central Arkansas' QiLi Ma came back on Patricia Villar in the final two sets of that match to keep the Sugar Bears alive
Ioana Popescu also knocked off Rada Manataweewat 6-1, 6-3. Both victories were the freshmen's first over ranked foes. Mylonas also won her singles match, meaning all three of those Warhawks moved to 3-0 on the year. ULM has also been 4-2 in singles in each match this year.
"The girls showed amazing heart and fought till the end," assistant coach R.J. Nagel said. "They started to see how the hard work is paying off."
Stanciu and Mylonas also teamed up for a 6-3 win over their Sugar Bear opponents in the first doubles matchup of the day. The pair moved to 2-1 on the season.
ULM's four-match, eight-day stretch continues Wednesday with a noon contest at Northwestern State.
