Box Score LAFAYETTE, La. -- ULM fell just short of a two-match sweep on the Cajun Courts, falling 4-3 to Sun Belt foe Texas State on Friday night.
It was the sixth 4-3 decision of the year for the Warhawks, who also won their first three matches of the year by that same tight score.
Tiffany Mylonas and Luana Stanciu entered the weekend with an 8-1 doubles record together, tops on the team, but did not get to finish either bout. The Warhawks still defeated UL Lafayette, 4-2, on Thursday.
Stanciu got ULM within 2-1 after her 7-5, 6-0 victory on the No. 5 court. Mylonas tied it up with a 6-1, 6-0 win on No. 3, her fourth time of the spring not allowing a second point to her opponent.
Patricia Villar rallied on No. 4 to keep ULM alive, and Martina Husarova won 7-6 in the first set of the deciding match before the Bobcats' Eva Dench came back for the victory.
ULM (10-3, 1-2 SBC) will spend its spring break playing three matches in the Peach State. The Warhawks first take on Georgia State in Atlanta on Thursday before facing Georgia Southern and Savannah State (both in Statesboro) on Saturday.
