MONROE, La. – Brayden Bouchey from the ULM baseball program, and the beach volleyball team of Claire Crossfield and Tara Jenkins were selected as Warhawk Male and Female of the Week winners.
Bouchey struck out a career-best 12 batters as he logged a career-high seven innings of work against Appalachian State on March 25.
He retired the first seven batters he faced, with six of those coming via a strikeout. After allowing a leadoff walk in the fifth, the right-hander retired the final nine batters he saw.
In his second quality start of the season, his final line was 7.0 innings, one hit, two runs, one earned run, two walks and 12 strikeouts. In addition to his Warhawk of the Week honor, Bouchey was also named the Sun Belt Conference Pitcher of the Week.
Crossfield and Jenkins posted a 4-1 record at the fours this past week. The pair started with three straight wins over Eckerd, UNCW and Lincoln Memorial before falling to No. 8 Georgia State and besting Jacksonville State.
The victories over the Lady Railsplitters and Gamecocks came in dominating fashion at 21-10, 21-3 and 21-4, 21-9 respectively. They also showed resilience against the Seahawks, coming back after dropping the first set to win in three by a score of 17-21, 22-20, 15-10.
The duo is now 5-1 on the season after upsetting FAU in three sets at the Carolina Classic.
