MONROE, La. – Completing their respective seasons on a high note, Velten Meyer from the men's golf team, and the beach volleyball duo of Catherine Griffith and Bayleigh Hoffman were named Warhawk of the Week winners.
Meyer ended as ULM's top-finisher, placing eighth overall at the 2016 Sun Belt Conference Men's Golf Championship.
In round one, Meyer carded an even par round of 71 before climbing the leaderboard with a 68 in Monday's second round. The senior finished with a final round score of 75 as he finished one-over-par for the tournament with a total score of 214.
Over the course of his 54 holes, Meyer finished with a par five scoring average of 4.83 (-2). He also tallied nine birdies and 36 pars at the Raven Golf Club in Miramar Beach, Fla.
Giffith, a freshman, and Hoffman, a sophomore, picked up a pair of straight-set victories for the ULM beach volleyball team in its final weekend of play at the Aloha Invitational. The pair, playing at the fives, opened the weekend with a 21-17, 21-16 sweep over No. 16 Grand Canyon's Rebecca Conrad and Chloe Jenkins.
The duo then recorded a 23-21, 21-19 win over Washington, which is receiving votes in DIG's latest poll, five-pair Lindsay Chalmers and Destiny Julye which lifted ULM to a 3-2 victory.
