Warhawks Capture Second-Straight Tournament Title

CHOUDRANT, La. – The ULM Men's Golf team grabbed its second consecutive first-place finish of the fall season on Tuesday afternoon, as the Warhawks finished four shots higher than second place Central Arkansas en route to winning the teams' first Jim Rivers Intercollegiate title.

NOTABLES

-Hogan Arey paced the Warhawks with a final round 72 on Tuesday to finish with a three-round total of 216 as he tied for sixth overall. Jeffrey Berry (73 Tuesday) finished one shot back of Arey with an overall 217 total score and in a tie for 11th overall.

-ULM teammates Andoni Etchenique and Joad Girro each finished the tournament with 218 total scores and finished tied for 16th after shooting the low rounds of the day by the Warhawks (69 – Girro & 70 – Etchenique). Thibault Santigny (76 Tuesday) shot a three-round total of 219 to finish one shot back of the pair and in a tie for 19th overall.

-Warhawk freshman Guillaume Fanonnel (73-80-76) competed as an individual and carded a three-round total score of 229 in his first collegiate tournament.

-With the team win, ULM now enters the Jim Rivers Collegiate record books as team champions, joining former Warhawk Casey Russell's individual championship honors in the first-ever tournament back in 2004. Another former Warhawk, Tim Kunick, shot a round of 66 in the first round of the 2005 tournament which is tied for the seventh-best round in tournament history.

-The Warhawks have now won team championships on back-to-back weeks after also grabbing the title at last week's Sam Hall Intercollegiate. The last ULM team championship prior to these two tournaments was the Atchafalaya Intercollegiate last February.

UP NEXT

-The Warhawks will take a two-week break from competition before returning to action on October 8 and 9 at the LSU/Daivd Toms Intercollegiate in Baton Rouge.
