Track and Field Has Strong Showing In Baton Rouge

Baton Rouge, La. – The ULM men's and women's track & field teams had another strong showing on Friday in Baton Rouge led by multiple competitors posting third place finishes in the LSU Bayou Bengal.

NOTABLES

-In the men's weight throw, the Warhawks had a pair of participants in the event. Kyle Weiss finished in sixth while Micah Dye was seventh on the day. Weiss had a throw of 14.96 meters while Dye was at 14.53 meters. On the women's side Alexis Gordon had the best finish for the Warhawks as she finished in tenth place with her best throw of the day at 16.30 meters.

-Weiss and Dye also competed on Friday in the men's shot put as they again finished sixth and seventh respectively. Weiss had a 15.32 meter throw while Dye was at 15.18 meters.

-In the women's mile run, the Warhawks received a strong performance as Angela Jepchirchir posted a third place finish with a time of 5:26.93. Brandon McDonald had a fourth place finish in the men's mile with his time of 4:23.06.

-In the women's shot put, Dominique Allen posted a third place finish with a 13.34 meter throw.

-Baillie Cunningham finished sixth in the 600 meter run with a time of 1:42.20, followed closely behind by Kennedy Smith, who finished ninth with a time of 1:44.54.

-In the men's triple jump, Delwin Nelson finished in sixth with a 14.56 meter jump. On the women's side, Adriunna Brown finished in third with an 11.34 meter jump.

-Teams competing today in Baton Rouge included: LSU, Alcorn State, Grambling, Louisiana Tech, McNeese State, New Orleans, Nicholls State, Prairie View A&M, Southeastern Louisiana, Southern and Texas Southern.

UP NEXT

- ULM now begins preparation for the Samford Invitational. The Warhawks run in that event beginning on Saturday, February 11 in Birmingham.
